This year, Berend is a faction member for SOG in the University Council. His portfolio includes the faculties of Law, Behavioural and Social Sciences and Philosophy. He is also responsible for communication with CUOS and OCSG.

In council, Berend is part of the financial resources committee, the committee Kwaliteitsafspraken and the committee TeRUG in balans/HLA.

Berend has finished his bachelor in Dutch law in the International and European track and is currently pursuing the Dutch law track and Philosophy of a Specific Discipline. Berend is active in several Law study associations and has previously been part of the Honours College board. In his free time, he enjoys reading, travelling and living in the Röling building.
